This is NOT going to be your average PowerPoint. I know you can create a bullet-filled presentation! For this assignment, you need to think a little outside the box and design an interactive learning module for the grade level and content area you are planning to teach.
The module will start with a brief lesson (a minimum of 2 slides of presented information, explanation, visual aids, etc.) Your lesson can be to teach a fact (e.g. the countries in Central Asia, the political system of a specific country, the population of a city, the spelling of certain English words, etc.), a concept (e.g. a concrete concept: what constitutes a cat/bird/computer? Describe its major characteristics and attributes that can distinguish them from other similar ones; an abstract concept: early childhood education/democracy/technological literacy/Web 2.0, talk about its definitions from various sources to explain the concept), or a procedure (e.g. a step-by-step guide to use the vending machine, to dry clothes, to do a dancing pose, to wash hands). You will only need something relatively simple and easy- to-explain to the learners.
After that, you will construct an interactive “quiz” to let the learner know whether or not they understood the information. To create the quiz, you will use hyperlinks or animation that connect the correct answer to a “Correct” slide and the incorrect answer to an explanation of the correct answer (sound confusing?...see the example provided and the tutorials!) For example, a click on the correct answer will lead to a slide stating "You got it right! Good job!" and a click on the incorrect answer will lead to a slide stating "You got it wrong. Try again!" or "No, the correct answer is…"

Make sure that the two slides of instruction (minimum) and your quiz questions match! The instructional slides are to be placed prior to the quiz. Your students are supposed to learn from the two instructional pages and therefore they will be able to answer your quiz questions based on your instruction.

There are a number of specific requirements for this project, including custom animation, images, etc., so you NEED to check the RUBRICbefore submitting! You will need to turn off the “advance to next slide on click” function (it’s under the Animations tab), and use hyperlinks to navigate your presentation.
When you have completed your project, you will save it as a PowerPoint Show (File Save As – then select “PowerPoint Show in the file type drop-down menu). This will allow the viewer to run it automatically, and they will not be able to edit it. Turn this in onto BB.
BE CREATIVE! This could be a very eye-catching piece in your portfolio if you do it well! Note: You could also use this powerpoint as part of the contents for your final project.
Prezi
In this week, you can also choose to make a presentation using Prezi. Prezi is a cloud-based presentation software and storytelling tool for presenting ideas. You can easily to pan and zoom, and to size, rotate, or edit an object. It is probably one of the most fascinating presentation tools on earth and it's easy to use!
Instructions: 1. Create new Prezi. Choose a template to work with or make your own design. Write a meaningful title and description for your prezi 2. Content:
Your Prezi presentation is a mini-class that you will teach.
The content of the class could be any subject, i.e. maths, science, language arts, etc… You can choose to teach factual information, such as the location of North America, capitals of major cities in the US; or concepts, such as democracy, education, mass/velocity/acceleration…; or principles, such as Newton's Law, Mathematical Theorems, etc… Choose any content that you're interested in teaching, but keep it relatively short and brief. 3. Twitter Live Chat Prep (in-class) : #edchat
We will participate in a Twitter synchrounous chat together in our face-to-face meeting. This experience is intended to: - Provide a new opportunity to expand your personal learning network (PLN) - Afford the experience of using a popular social networking tool to interact for professional growth - Provide flexibility in scheduling a synchronous experience (i.e., you may select a chat which fits your into schedule) - Provide some flexibility in selecting a topic/area of interest that is relevant to you - Extend interaction and sharing of ideas beyond the boundaries of this course
You are expected to contribute to the conversation! You will do this by tweeting with the chat’s hashtag (e.g., #edchat). You can address someone in the conversation by including the @ symbol before their Twitter name (e.g., @tintinluol). You can also use the Reply option to respond to someone’s tweet. You can share what someone else has tweeted via the Retweet option and save a tweet to reference later by marking it as a favorite. If your are on a computer, you may find it helpful to open 3 tabs:
Home: where you can enter your tweet
Search: where you’ve searched and are monitoring the chat's hashtag to keep up with the conversation [Make sure you select "All" at the top of the page where you've searched the hashtag to view all tweets and not just "top" tweets].
@Connect: where you can see if/when others in the chat respond to your tweets or try to interact with you

Discuss your prior experience with Twitter for synchronous chatting -Have you used Twitter to participate in synchronous live chats previously? If so, what kind of chats did you participate in? Was this a requirement or something you sought out on your own? Were you aware that there were professional communities and networks in your field communicating and collaborating with Twitter?
2. Reflect on the chat experience -Was it challenging? interesting? overwhelming? enlightening? boring? exciting? How often did you tweet in the an hour session? Were you able to follow the pace of chats?
